Need a Relaxing Vacation? Find it in Costa Rica!

I am not exaggerating when I say that I think Costa Rica is one of the most relaxing places on Earth. From desolate beaches to undisturbed rainforest, Costa Rica is the place to go if you need to recharge.

If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, considering visiting us at Osa Mountain Village. Set roughly 2,000 ft (600 m) up in a lush rainforest, Osa Mountain Village lies on 750+ acres of gorgeous wilderness.

One of the great things about our location is that it is away from the hustle and bustle of popular tourist areas. It really offers you the opportunity to get away from it all--while not sacrificing on the comforts of home.

The villas for rent have modern amenities such as cable and internet. They are furnished with everything you need to make a home away from home.

As a guest, you will also have access to many different types of organic food--grown and raised right here on the property! Can you imagine the wonderful meals you can cook in this kitchen?

One of my favorite things to do here is explore the jungle. Within a short walk through the rainforest you'll find many beautiful waterfalls such as this. Who knows what kind of awesome creatures you'll encounter on your way!

If you enjoy gardening, you will want to check out the organic gardens and trails. You can get up close and personal with a lot of different species of insects and birds, as well as learn about permaculture and sustainability.

Within a short drive you will find many beaches. Some of them are so desolate--it's not uncommon to be one of only a few people there at any given time!

If the pool is more your style, enjoy a dip in the community pool. When you are done, enjoy a beverage at the pool bar!

At the end of the day, be sure you check out the sunset. The sunsets up here are to die for!

If you are interested in staying at the villa pictured above, check out the listing on AirBnb. Mention you saw this article and we will make sure you get a basket of organic food during your stay!

If you have any questions, please let us know. We'd be happy to help you plan your relaxing vacation to Costa Rica!

Costa Rican Sunsets

Some of the most picturesque scenes you'll ever find in Costa Rica are when the sun sets. In the summer, this can be very early in the day (around 6 pm). Do yourself a favor and find a quiet place to watch this beautiful scene!

Mountain Views in Costa Rica

Going to the beach is a great way to spend your Costa Rican vacation. But when you spend all of your time at sea level, you miss a lot! Some of my favorite views are when I'm up in the mountains looking down. Here are some great views from the mountain side!

It really is breathtaking up here! I encourage you to take some winding roads up into the mountains and see where it takes you!

Spear Fishing in Costa Rica

Visiting Costa Rica can be the adventure of a lifetime! One of the perks is the close proximity to great fishing grounds that are easy and accessible. I love fishing and jumped at the opportunity to join this trip.

The trip started by a wonderful jet-ski ride through multiple river ways and eventually the main delta leading to the Pacific Ocean. The ride out of the river is exhilarating with the waves crashing over the front of the jet-skis.

The first spot that we stopped was at this beautiful small island outcropping. Unfortunately due to the impending storm the water clarity was poor.

The next location we had to use the GPS to find. It was a large boulder in 35 foot of water a short distance out from the first location. The water quality here was great below 13 feet.

Here you can see one of the fish being speared. Of course, there are also many options for standard fishing here too. But spear fishing is certainly a physical way to experience the sport!

If you're considering a trip to Costa Rica, I hope you'll add spear fishing to your itinerary! Lake Arenal Boat Tour

If you are looking for a fun activity to do when you visit Costa Rica, a boat tour of Lake Arenal is a great choice. Lake Arenal is Costa Rica's largest lake, located in the northern highlands of the country. It is about 90 km northwest of San Jose. If you are spending some time in the north before heading south to the beautiful beaches, put this on your list.

It is 30 km long and 5 km wide at its widest point. There are numerous boat operators that take tourists on a tour of the lake. Since the roads nearby are steep and winding, a ride across the lake can be a more enjoyable way to get to the Arenal Volcano.

There is a lot of wildlife in Lake Arenal. Besides fish, you will likely see many different types of birds.

You won't forget the first time you catch a glimpse of the Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcano in Costa Rica.

As you get closer you can see the massive size of this volcano. The Arenal volcano measures in at approximately 1,633 metres (5,358 ft).

The Arenal Volcano had a major eruption in 1968 that killed many people and caused massive damage to nearby villages. While lava eruptions and explosions are rare, when you get close you may be able to see smoke coming from the top. It can be difficult to see if the skies are cloudy.

The Whale's Tail in Costa Rica

If you're visiting Costa Rica, a stop at Uvita Beach is a must. Uvita Beach is known as the "whale's tail." When you take a look at the aerial view, you'll understand why.

The beach leading up to the tail is sandy and smooth.

The sun can be brutal, so be sure to bring your sunscreen!

You can see from the tire tracks that a lot of boats get launched from this area.
If the tide is out you can walk out onto the tail. Be careful not to get stuck out there!

This area is quite rocky, so be sure you are wearing shoes.

If you're considering a trip to Costa Rica, I hope you'll add a trip to the Whale's Tail to your itinerary!
